Starting position: Tottenham needs the points for top, City for bottom

Leicester City has returned to reality in the pre-season after its trip to the Champions League. The goal of the Foxes is a place in the secure midfield of the league. The 2016 champion will certainly have the quality, because in addition to well-known players from the master team such as Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Christian Fuchs, Robert Huth, Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy, Leicester landed renowned reinforcements in the summer. Especially the two newcomers Vicente Iborra (formerly FC Sevilla) and Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City) were also courted by numerous other European top clubs. But after the lackluster 1-1 draw at West Ham United on the final day of the match, a 13-point Tables 14th has to look down more than up. The situation is different for the next opponent, Tottenham, who have set their season’s goal at positions 1 to 4. After their disappointing 1-1 draw with West Bromwich over the weekend, they have slipped out of the top 4 and want to regain the lost points immediately. Will coach Mauricio Pochettino’s team win away?

The last 5 duels at a glance:

  • 18.05.2017 Leicester 1-6 Tottenham
  • 29.10.2016 Tottenham – Leicester City 1:1
  • 20.01.2016 Leicester 0-2 Tottenham
  • 13.01.2016 Tottenham 0-1 Leicester
  • 10.01.2016 Tottenham 2-2 Leicester

Leicester City: Improved, but still far from carefree

Things at Leicester City have changed for the better after the horror start with four bankruptcies in the first six games in recent weeks. Meanwhile the troupe of coach Claude Puel, who replaced the unsuccessful Craig Shakespeare at the end of October, has fought their way into midfield, but without being able to stop looking down. As far as the personnel situation is concerned, Leicester will have to forego former German international Robert Huth, who was injured at his ankle, until mid-December. With Wes Morgan, Harry Maguire and Aleksandar Dragovic, however, the Foxes have three other excellent central defenders in the squad. In the offensive, Leicester’s game is played by the trio Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki. At the 1-1 draw with West Ham last Friday, Marc Albrighton scored for the early lead, but it was equalised just before the break. In the end it was a point that Leicester takes with him, but to really improve in the tight table, only threesomes help. Is there the one against Vice Champion Tottenham?

Tottenham: The Constance region is (still) lacking

After a 2-1 victory in Dortmund during the week in the Champions League, the Spurs fans had of course firmly planned their home win against relegation candidate West Brom. This lack of consistency worries coach Pochettino, as his team beats teams such as BVB and even Real Madrid, but cannot win home matches against weaker teams such as Swansea or, most recently, West Brom at Wembley Stadium. Away, however, things are better for the Spurs this season: although they lost at Arsenal and Man United, they scored 12 goals against the teams outside the top 6 and clinched four sovereign wins in a different position. Can Kane & Co. expand this series in Leicester?

Our betting tip: Tottenham wins again in Leicester

The Spurs burn for reparation after the disgraceful 1:1 against West Brom and that’s where the Foxes come in handy. Last season, Leicester were rolled into the stadium 6-1, but they also took the points home with a 2-0 win. This series continues, as Tottenham can once again rely on the accuracy of his goalscoring machine Harry Kane. Therefore our tip is away win, which brings you a profit of 18 for 10 Euro stake at this BetVictor Review.
